When is the US Open played?
The US Open runs from late August into the second week of September, the last Grand Slam of the tennis calendar. Fan Week and qualifying start about a week before the main draw, which begins on the last Sunday of August. The tournament closes with both finals on the second weekend.

Roofs and rain
Arthur Ashe Stadium, the main stadium, has had a retractable roof since 2016. Louis Armstrong Stadium, the second stadium, got its own roof when it reopened in 2018. Between the two, most of the marquee matches can continue through rain that would once have delayed the whole day’s schedule.
The Grandstand, the third show court, has no roof.
Day session vs evening session
A Day Session ticket covers matches starting around 11am, with several matches played back to back through the afternoon. An Evening Session ticket covers the night matches, usually starting around 7pm, which is where the tournament tends to schedule its biggest names and its loudest atmosphere.
Both sessions include access to the outer courts as well as the main stadium listed on the ticket.
Picking the right day
The first week runs more matches across more courts and tends to be more affordable. The second week narrows the draw, with the semifinals and finals commanding the highest prices of the tournament.
If you’re flexible, evening sessions in the middle of the first week often combine strong matches with a lower price than the opening weekend or the finals.
