How the order of play works
Court Rainier III carries the headline matches throughout the draw, and from the quarterfinals onward it’s the only show court in use. Court des Princes runs alongside it from qualifying through the quarterfinals, mixing singles and doubles, and often featuring seeded players before they move over to the centre court in the second week.
Match assignments are confirmed by the tournament the evening before. There’s no roof on either show court: wet weather shifts the schedule, and clay courts take time to drain after rain.
Which day should you attend?
The qualifying and opening rounds are the most accessible entry points. Court des Princes in the early rounds routinely features seeded players in close-up, before those same players move to Court Rainier III. The quarterfinals mark a step change once the draw narrows to eight, and everything from there to the final plays out on the centre court.
Monte-Carlo in April is typically 16 to 20°C, well suited to a full day at the club.
